Wood Cupcake Stand
My quest to master the High Altitude Cupcake has brought me to the
Cupcake Stand.
You can not have great cupcakes without a beautiful way to display them....
I went out onto our property with my husband's chiansaw and made a
Wood Round Cupcake Stand.
These are HIgh Altitude Chocolate Cupcakes with my favorite
Whipped Chocolate Ganance Recipe
Whipped Ganache
Makes 4 Cups
1 Pound Chocolate Chips
2 1/2 Cups Heavy Cream
- Chop chocolate finely using a serrated knife, and place in a bowl
- Bring cream to a boil over medium high heat; pour directly over the chopped chocolate.
- Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. Use a spatula to gently stir until the cream and chocolate are completely combined.
- Chill ganache in the fridge until it is cool to the touch
- Whisk until it just barley begins to hold shape and is slightly lighter in color. DO NOT over whip, or the mixture will become grainy The ganache will keep thickening after you stop whisking.
- Put icing into a piping bag and beautify your cupcake!

Western Cowboy Birthday Cake
Round 4 of SYTYC has come and gone.... Here is my submission for the theme Edible. It is a fondant covered chocolate cake. The hat is made out of sculpted rice cereal covered in fondant.
I came in 2nd place this week... Boy, the competition is tough!
Many creative entries again this week! Congratulations to this weeks winner, Cheri who made the Little Man Tea Party! I love the photo of the "3 little men"!

Birthday Cakes!
One of the birthday traditions in our house is the making of a super special birthday cake!
The kids and I plan and prepare...We think about the theme of the party and plan the cake design. Each year is something new. With each birthday party that we plan my children learn about hospitality! They have as much fun planning for their guests as they do for themselves!

Outer Space Birthday
In keeping with the theme of Celebrating Our Boys I thought that I would share some boy themed birthday parties that we have had.
Milo's 5th birthday (last year) had an Outer space theme!
We had rocket ship bubbles, freeze dried ice cream,a rocket ship pinata, and of course a 10 foot metal rocket playhouse?...
Joseph built a rocket ship that "crashed" in the woods.
The cake was a robot. It is was a chocolate cake covered rolled fondant.
I made space rocks by covering little toys with a paste of baking soda and baked them for 30 min until they were hard. We hid them in the woods and each child used metal tongs to gather their rocks and bring them to the space lab. They put their rocks in the bowl of space water (vinegar) and watched them magically bubble and fizz to reveal their toy!
The kids spent an hour shooting air rockets off the deck into the woods!
